weddings/engagements

weddings/engagements

In 2023, I was honored to be one of the bridesmaids in my best friend’s wedding. Of course, that meant I got to shower her and her husband with gifts, and I did just that. The color scheme of the wedding was navy blue, sage green, and gold, and the overall theme was floral.

Starting with the engagement party, which I was in charge of decorating (minus the balloons and backdrop). I used an old picture frame to make this gorgeous frame for taking photos:

I also made a matching “M” for Meyer:

Ring-shaped jell-o shots in a floral tray:

For party games, I made her a custom coloring book page featuring their dog, who helped her dad propose, as well as the “shoe game” question sheet. We asked the guests to write the couple some advice or kind words on the back of the coloring page, too, in case they didn’t care much to color. There would be kids attending the party so I wanted to keep everyone in mind.

I found some acrylic signs at Michael’s and added the “shower” and the flowers on top to balance it out.

Another cute decoration to put around the venue, I painted on the flowers and put a cute phrase inside:

Finally, the thank you goodies. We didn’t want to go overboard so we just got some mini fake plants for people to take if they wanted. I found the perfect little stand to give it some height and I dressed it up with some thank you signs and their wedding date on the side (not visible in the picture).

Then came the bachelorette party. We were not required to bring gifts, but I wanted to give her everything she might need in the lead up to the wedding. It was more of a care package than a gift, it had all the masks you could think of: hair masks, eye masks, face masks, foot masks (which I did not know were a thing before this) and some other things like pimple patches, oil absorbing sheets, and my favorite part, a custom robe.

With her initials on the top left, and sage and gold flowers on one pocket.

Showing off her bride status loud and proud on the back. But my personal favorite touch, the hearts on the tie strings:

I was so excited to give her this, and she told me she still wears it and loves it to this day.

It does not end there; I wanted to make one last gift for the actual wedding. I thought about how most people have their wedding stuff stored away, only to talk about it if it ever gets pulled out. To combat this, I wanted to make a memory box that she could store a few keepsakes and photos in that’s easily accessible.

I included a plastic, snapping-shut folder with it to keep the photos safe and not bumping around in the box. Last but not least, a jewelry box with an M on it, which ended up coming to the ceremony with her and held all her jewelry.

I took a stab at a card for the first time, and both things ended up being in some of her wedding photographs, which was just the highest compliment that the photographer thought they were pretty enough to include (it was not planned).

It was the perfect wedding, and I was just lucky to have been a part of it. I love you guys!

More recently, my sister got engaged! They were on vacation when he proposed so we were dog sitting, and I made their dog a little bandana as a welcome home gift.

Here is Lady wearing it:

There will be more to come on this one! Stay tuned for updates :)
